Total reconstruction and expansion of a dilapidated garage building in the city center.
This was a specific task due to the complex nature of the space. It involved a courtyard in an urban block characteristic of Novi Sad from the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in the 1930s, a period when the city experienced perhaps its greatest urban development as the administrative center of one of the subdivisions. It was during this time that the thoroughfare leading from Petrovaradin to the city center across the Danube, now known as Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard, was constructed.
Large residential blocks with inner mini-parks and parking areas were formed around this thoroughfare. Meanwhile, public spaces and areas designated for public buildings were designed in line with the leading trends of European countries at the time.
Next to the Danube Park and the park near the Banovina, some of the city's most representative structures were built, including the Brašovanova Banovina, Tabaković's Youth Trade Union Center, the Chamber of Labor, and many others.
Out of respect for everything mentioned above, we wanted the reconstructed building to remain as inconspicuous as possible.
Due to the narrow passage for material transport and the zero tolerance of the downtown city's senior residents for any changes or noise, we decided to use a completely prefabricated construction method. The steel structure of the garage, including a storage gallery, as well as the garage cladding and gypsum partition walls, were completed in the shortest possible time.
