Author’s Statement::

We invite you to walk beneath the title of the novel “The Use of Man” by Aleksandar Tišma and become one of the authors of the exhibition.

The core idea of this interactive exhibition is to examine the possibilities of choice in circumstances of disrupted moral values and the conditioning of those choices by the identities assigned to us by society.

Following the fate of Tišma’s characters, the exhibition points to the transformation that both the individual and society undergo as a consequence of the war’s destruction.

Vera’s room served as the set for the “before” and “after” the war, or more precisely, as an invitation to think about whether the idea of existence of the “before” and “after” in the context of war is just an illusion.

This exhibition does not consist of valuable exhibits, but rather a space open for reflection, in which everyone is invited to leave their mark.
